here is some feedback from OSGeo Code Sprint.

We had a great event with about 100 participants from many projects and from all over the world. Projects worked very successfully during the week.

What we have

• address communitysprint@osgeo.org -> to use to promote the event
• contacts to sponors (private document)
• text templates: textes to send to sponsors / template for invoices, ...
• script to generate nameplate for lanyards easily

Now the question is were the next OSGeo code sprint will take place and when? We have many small code sprints connected to FOSS4G events already.

Some people gave feedback, that it would be nice to have an OSGeo Code Sprint in Bonn at BaseCamp again. The Bonn team is open to organize such a sprint again.

Great that you joined OSGeo Code Sprint 2018 in Bonn two weeks ago. We hope you had a good and productive time in BaseCamp and hope you could build up many great contacts. And in the end had a save journey back home.

To some of you we could not say good-bye as we organized the FOSSGIS conference parallel to the code sprint and we underrated the work that had to be done for the events.

Accommodation

We hope you have booked a room on your own, as the code sprint does not cover accommodation. Please see the "Accommodations" section of the wiki page for ideas.

Projects

If you plan to work on a project please add your plan to the wiki [3], so other participants can get an overview on the things that are going on and may join.

Social Events

We organized some social events for you [4]. *IMPORTANT*: If you would like to join the Party at FOSSGIS Conference on Wednesday evening (we invite you) please add the information to the wiki table (new column in the table). We need the information soon.

OSGeo Member Meeting

Please note that there will be an OSGeo Member Meeting [5] on the evening of Monday 19th in BaseCamp. We would like to have an open discussion on OSGeo topics for about 2 hours.

Marketing Materials

We also plan to provide OSGeo marketing material, so-called "Exhibition Packs", ready for you to take to your country. So please if possible leave some space in your suitcase empty to take some material back home. If you can take material home please add your name and needs to the table to make calculation easier [6].

Die Open Source Geospatial Foundation (OSGeo) hat eine lange Tradition, Code Sprints für die Entwickler von Open Source GIS Software zu organisieren. (https://wiki.osgeo.org/wiki/Category:Code_Sprints).

Im Rahmen der FOSSGIS-Konferenz 2018 in Bonn wird ein internationaler Code Sprint der OSGeo parallel zur Konferenz vom 19. bis zum 25. März 2018 stattfinden. Somit ist der Code Sprint auch für Ihre Entwickler die Gelegenheit, sich mit den Kernentwicklern der Projekte zu treffen, einen tieferen Einblick in die Software zu bekommen und sich an der Entwicklung zu beteiligen.

The Open Source Geospatial Foundation (OSGeo) has a long tradition of organizing code sprints for developers of Open Source GIS software. (https://wiki.osgeo.org/wiki/Category:Code_Sprints).

Simultaneously with the FOSSGIS Conference 2018 in Bonn an international code sprint of the OSGeo will take place from 19 to 25 March 2018. We expect about 80 developers from all over the world to come from various [2] projects. Whether desktop application, geospatial library, metadata catalog or web mapping: be sure to find products in the list that you use. Thus, the Code Sprint is also an opportunity for your developers to meet with the core developers of the projects, get a deeper insight into the software and participate in the development.

The Open Source Geospatial Foundation (OSGeo) has a long tradition of organizing code sprints for developers of Open Source GIS software.

For several years the Open Source Geospatial Foundation (OSGeo) [1] has been organizing a yearly Code Sprint, a come-together of the "C Tribe" OSGeo projects - now we call it OSGeo Code Sprint. Leading developers of projects like GDAL, PostGIS, MapServer, QGIS, PDAL, and many more get together to discuss new ideas, hack, decide, tackle large geospatial problems & more & simply to have fun.

In 2018 the OSGeo Code Sprint will come again to Europe after Vienna (2014) [6] and Paris in (2016) [4]. This makes is possible to embed European developers and users. The tradition started in 2011 with Toronto [11], then New York [10], Montreal [9], Island Wood [8] and Boston [7]. And went to Philadelphia in 2015 [5] and last year to Daytona Beach (2017) [3]. This year the international code sprint of the OSGeo will take place from 18 to 25 March 2018 simultaneously with the FOSSGIS Conference 2018 in Bonn. We offer a setting so that individual projects can meet for their code sprint.

The code sprint will take place at BaseCamp in Bonn. During the FOSS4G 2016 in Bonn we have already organized a code sprint at this location, in which about 100 developers worked on the open source projects every day. (https://wiki.osgeo.org/wiki/FOSS4G_2016_Code_Sprint). It is a really awesome location. Codesprint and accommodations are combined in one hall and you will live in a caravan, bus or cabin.

Working zones will be created for you in the breakfast area and hallways. Healthy and not-so-healthy catering of drinks and snacks will be provided by us. Participation in codesprint is free of charge. However, overnight stays will have to be reserved and paid for by yourself.

BaseCamp is an indoor campground and offers different caravans, night sleepers, Airstreams, a Trabant, Volkswagen transporter and other places to stay.

If you prefer to stay in a hotel - no problem. Bonnox Boardinghouse is close-by. And you also find many great hotels in Bonn.

Die von der Open Source Geospatial Foundation für die Entwickler von Open Source GIS Software organisierten Code Sprints haben eine lange Tradition.

Die Open Source Geospatial Foundation (OSGeo) hat viele Jahre lang einen jährlichen Code Sprint organisiert als come-together für die Entwickler in den C-Tribe-OSGeo-Projekten (also Projekte, die in C geschrieben sind) - heute nennen wir es den OSGeo-Code-Sprint. Die Kernentwickler von Projekten wie GDAL, PostGIS, MapServer, QGIS, PDAL und vielen anderen kommen zusammen, um neue Ideen zu diskutieren, zu programmieren, Entscheidungen zu treffen, komplexe raumzeitliche Problemstellungen anzugehen und dabei eine Menge Spaß zu haben.

2018 findet der OSGeo Code Sprint wieder in Europa statt nach Wien (2014)[6] und Paris (2016)[4]. Das ermöglicht es, Entwickler und Nutzer aus Europa einzubeziehen. Die Tradition der Code Sprints begann 2011 in Toronto[11], dann New York[10], Montreal[9], Island Wood[8] und Boston[7]. Schließlich ging der Code Sprint 2015 nach Philadelphia[5] und letztes Jahr nach Daytona Beach (2017)[3]. Eine Liste der Code Sprints findet sich unter [12].

Dieses Jahr findet der internationale Code Sprint der OSGeo vom 18.-25. März 2018 parallel zur FOSSGIS Konferenz 2018 in Bonn statt. Wir bieten einen Rahmen, in dem sich einzelne Projekte zu ihrem Code Sprint treffen können.

Der Code Sprint findet im BaseCamp in Bonn statt. Während der FOSS4G 2016 fand dort bereits ein Codesprint mit etwa 100 Entwicklern statt. (https://wiki.osgeo.org/wiki/FOSS4G_2016_Code_Sprint). Das BaseCamp ist ein großartiger Ort für eine solche Veranstaltung. Codesprint und Unterkunft sind in einer alten Fabrikhalle mit unterschiedlichsten Übernachtungsmöglichkeiten vom Campingwagen bis zur Gondel.

Unterkünfte

Arbeitsbereiche für die Entwickler werden eingerichtet. Gesunde und weniger gesunde Verpflegung (Essen und Getränke) stellen wir zur Verfügung. Die Teilnahme am Codesprint ist kostenlos. Die Übernachtung muss jedoch von den Teilnehmern selbst bezahlt und gebucht werden.

Das BaseCamp ist ein Indoor-Campingplatz in einer alten Fabrikhalle. Es gibt dort verschiedene Wohnwagen, Schlafwagen, Airstreams, einen Trabant, VW-Busse und andere Schlafgelegenheiten.

Für die, die lieber im Hotel übernachten, gibt es das Bonnox Boardinghouse direkt nebenan. Außerdem stehen viele gute Hotels und Hostels in Bonn zur Verfügung.

Die Unterkünfte werden auch den Teilnehmern der FOSSGIS-Konferenz zur Verfügung stehen. Daher sorgen wir dafür, dass die Code-Sprint-Teilnehmer einige Tage früher Zugang zum Buchungssystem erhalten, um vor Ort übernachten zu können.
